THE CROSS-ERA ARENA · VOL. 1

Ronaldo 1998 vs Messi 2012

The ledger's first cross-era duel: Ronaldo at 21 against Messi at 24, all 43 rulers on the table. Ranking them is the reader's freedom; laying out the numbers is the ledger's duty.

One ST ruler · 43 attributes OVR 89 vs 90 · recomputable Confidence: Ronaldo L2 · Messi L3 Signed: Bong Weng · The Archivist

Putting Ronaldo of 1997/98 and Messi of 2011/12 on one sheet is not about ranking them — it is about seeing two kinds of greatness against the same 43 rulers. One was 21, knees still his own, shattering defenders' entire worldview in a single season; the other was 24, turning goals into the record itself — 50 in La Liga, 91 across the calendar year, numbers beyond the ruler.

Both overalls use the ST weight table: Ronaldo 89, Messi 90, recomputable item by item. ● marks weighted attributes, highlighted cells are that row's winner, and the diff column is Messi − Ronaldo.

All 43, side by side

Ronaldo · 1997/98: the defending Ballon d'Or and FIFA World Player year, UEFA Cup winner, 1998 World Cup runner-up and Golden Ball. 21 years old — the steepest explosion curve in the ledger. OVR 89.

Messi · 2011/12: the all-time La Liga record of 50 league goals, a 73-goal season, a third consecutive Ballon d'Or in 2011. The false nine defined — a striker's name with a playmaker's soul. OVR 90.

The verdict, ledger-style

Item by item across 43: Messi takes 28, Ronaldo takes 9, 6 even (both keep outfield-low goalkeeper numbers, counted even). Yet the overall gap is a single point — the ST formula remembers that Ronaldo pinned every weighted attribute at the striker's center of gravity (FIN 94 · OFF 91 · SPT 93), while half of Messi's edge lives outside the weight table (VIS 97 · AGI 96 · left foot 98). The old scale would have flattened that. The new one puts it on the table. That is why this page exists.

Peaks get archived, and eras never get compared off-axis. One turned "extraterrestrial" into a verb; the other turned "record" into a plural. One ruler, two ceilings — neither needs your permission.

Duel spec: both overalls computed on the ST weight table (CF→ST alias mapping): Ronaldo 89 · Messi 90, recomputable. Ronaldo 1997/98 is the v3.1b full-recompute value (L2); Messi 2011/12 is an L3 archive-built profile (anchored to 50 league goals / 73-goal season / 91-goal year), to be re-verified player by player when his dossier is published.
